The source said the government has not finalized the cost of the two projects, but they are expected to generate a combined GDP of $ 420 million.

Construction of the Bradford Bypass is projected to create 700 jobs per year and save commuters 35 minutes in travel time once completed, the government source said.

Hwy. 413 would produce 3,500 jobs a year for nearly a decade and cut driving time by 30 minutes, the source said.

Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy will release the 2021 Ontario Economic Outlook and Tax Review on Thursday.

Both highway projects have drawn strong criticism from environmentalists and political opponents of the Doug Ford government, which has touted the construction of transportation as an important measure for the economic well-being of the province.
