Mota Engil wins PPP contract from Banobras

The National Bank of Public Works and Services (Banobras) awarded this Thursday to Mota Engil Mexico a contract for 12,417.6 million pesos (as full payment under the public-private partnership scheme) for the construction, maintenance, rehabilitation and operation (C- MRO) under performance standards for 55.4 km of the Tepic-Compostela and Jala-Compostela-Las Varas highways and their branch to Compostela.

As part of the contest, Banobras received five technical and economic proposals, led by ICA, GAMI, La Peninsular Compañía Constructora, Promotora del Desarrollo de América Latina and Mota Engil. However, the winner was the only one that was able to pass the technical review and therefore its economic offer was known, which includes an initial investment of 4,914.8 million pesos and a minimum risk capital amount of 2,082.6 million pesos. The contract between the company and the bank must be signed on July 8 at noon.

The C-MRO tender is the second under the public-private partnership modality launched in the highway sector during the current six-year term, it will be valid for 10 years and will generate tourism and commercial benefits in the region by connecting in less time the inhabitants of Guadalajara and Nayarit with Puerto Vallarta. As background, in 2021 Banobras canceled a similar tender, although it did not include construction (the southeast package) to leave the tasks in the hands of Capufe.
