Mexican Art Festival announces program and concert

From this Thursday, November 4, it started in the Mexico City the second edition of Mexican Art Festival 2021, which on this occasion will be dedicated to making visible the work of women in culture to combat racism, classism, sexism and other violence, as well as to honor the tenacity of the searching mothers of their disappeared relatives and show solidarity with their cause.

On November 25, International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women, Maria Katzarava and Ana Caridad Acosta they will join their voices in #HastaEncontrarles, a concert in tribute to the groups of seeking mothers, at the Esperanza Iris Theater of the City.

The concert will feature the special participation of the Mexican pianist María Hanneman and an ensemble made up of 22 female musicians, created expressly for the occasion, under the baton of Grace Echáuri.

The program will include two major pieces: Oración de las Madres que sus Niños en arms, by the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla – within the framework of the 145th anniversary of his birth and 75th anniversary of his death – and the Stabat Mater by Giovanni Batista Pergolesi.

#HastaEncontrarles arises from the need to recognize and disseminate the work carried out by groups of search engines, mainly in states such as Nuevo León, Guanajuato and Sonora, without ignoring all the people who dedicate their efforts to find the whereabouts of some of the most than 100,000 missing people in Mexico, according to official figures, say the organizers.

The festival’s program also includes two discussion tables, the first one “Racism and the mass media”, in collaboration with the University Program for Studies of Cultural Diversity and Interculturality of UNAM, under the leadership of Johnny Carmona, in which they will participate María Clara Sharupi, from Shuar Nation, Ecuador; Mikeas Sánchez and Felina Santiago Valdivieso, from Chiapas and Oaxaca, respectively; the second table, “Youth and written media”, in which editors from C de Cultura, Tierra Adentro and Mexicana de Arte will take part, and will be moderated by Eleane Herrera.

At the same time, the series “They make the news” will be presented, where Eleane Herrera Montejano and Mauricio Elí will talk with journalists, writers and public relations.

Finally, the initiative “50 voices for poets” will invite prominent personalities to read the work of contemporary poets from Mexico and Latin America in video capsules that will be broadcast during the festival.

The broadcasts of tables and poetry readings can be seen free of charge through the Capital 21 television signal and Mexicana de Arte social networks respectively, while tickets for #HastaEncontrarles are already available at Ticketmaster and the Esperanza Iris Theater box office. .
