At the end of January 2022, 962,867 confirmed cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus were registered, the highest number of monthly infections since the February 2020 pandemic began in Mexico, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Within the framework of the fourth wave of coronavirus infections in the country, the infections registered during the first month of the year doubled the highest figure registered in August 2021 (504 158) during the third recovery of the epidemic.

On Monday, January 31, the federal agency reported that the accumulated number of Covid-19 infections in Mexico was 4,942,590 confirmed cases.

It should be noted that the mortality rate was lower than that of infections. In January 2022, the federal agency reported 6,663 deaths, making it the fifth month with the lowest number of deaths.
