Carlos Joaquín González trusted that the investigations report that it is “a criminal group, which comes from other parts of the country, seeks to maintain the commercialization of illicit products and whose demand causes a situation like this, which generates a very complicated situation in terms of of care, attention and security for the state and visitors ”.

Joaquín González confirmed that the events occurred after two antagonistic criminal groups attacked each other on the beach of the Hyatt Ziva hotel in Bahía Petempich.

“A crime group that attacked another opposing group puts the image of the state at great risk. They arrived and entered the federal zone where this happened, ”said the governor.

He stressed that the Ministry of Public Security has taken over the protection of the facilities; In addition to the fact that the State Attorney General’s Office already has several lines of investigation, in addition to the fact that all the police corporations of Quintana Roo are already working to clarify the facts, which they described as “unusual” by “groups with individual interests that they go against the collective interest, which hurt the society and families of Quintana Roo ”.

A shooting on the hotels beach Azul Beach y Hyatt Ziva, in Puerto Morelos (20 minutes from Cancun), took place around 2:00 p.m. this Thursday, with the balance of two people dead and at least one injured tourist, as well as an employee of one of the accommodation centers .

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported that it was a dispute between gangs of drug dealers in the beach area of ​​the municipality of Puerto Morelos.

The two people who died were apparently two drug dealers, in addition to the fact that the two people did not present a serious offense, according to the preliminary report of the state Attorney’s Office.

The report of the Center for Coordination, Control, Command, Computing and Communication of Quintana Roo (C-5), states that they received a report of at least 15 armed people on the beach of the Hyatt Ziva hotel, in the area known as Bahía Petempich de Puerto Morelos.

After the incident, members of the National Guard and the Army guarded the entrances to the hotels and a helicopter from the Secretary of the Navy was flying over the area.

Personnel from the Forensic Medical Service and Expert Services also arrived to collect the bodies and gather reports.
