North Edmonton collision leaves motorcyclist dead – Edmonton | The Canadian News

A 44-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck in north Edmonton on Thursday afternoon.

In a press release issued Thursday night, police said officers were called to an accident on 97th Street north of 137th Avenue around 4:45 p.m.

“Police were informed that a 2013 Dodge Journey was traveling south on 97th Street when the driver attempted to make a left turn north of 137th Avenue,” the Edmonton Police Service said.

“The SUV was subsequently struck by a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling in the northbound lanes, causing the SUV to roll over.”

Police said paramedics attempted measures to save the motorcyclist’s life when they arrived at the scene, but he died from his injuries at the scene.

The 78-year-old man driving the truck was not injured.

At 9:30 pm, police said no charges had been filed, but their investigation into what happened was ongoing.
