The official results, still provisional, unveiled Monday, September 27, indicate a very tight ballot. The Social Democratic Party won the general elections with 25.7% of the vote, narrowly ahead of the conservatives of the CDU-CSU who won 24.1% of the vote, the worst result in their history, while the Greens come third with 14.8% followed by the liberal FDP party with 11.5%.
