Christmas tree lighting ceremonies in various West Island cities

The annual “Tree Lighting” at Pointe-Claire Village will take place on Thursday (November 25) at 6 pm in an adapted pandemic format.

The event, which takes place at the outdoor skating rink located in the lot at the corner of Lakeshore Rd. Cartier Ave., will be restricted to Pointe-Claire residents with a valid MULTI card.

The city said that due to health measures for public events, the site will be sectioned, and citizens who wish to attend the event in person must register online at the Ludik platform with your valid MULTI card. Registration, which began Monday, is on a first-come, first-served basis. All participants must register individually and each family member must reserve their own place.

“The site has capacity for 400 people, in two different ways: 350 people can experience the moment directly on the site, while another 50 are invited to tie their skates and skate around the tree throughout the event,” the city said in a liberation.

Additionally, Cartier Ave., between Lakeshore Rd. And the northern boundary of the municipal lot, will be closed starting at 3 p.m.

The site will be accessible again for registered participants starting at 5 pm

The city said citizens attending the event will be required to have a vaccination passport (for people 13 and older) in addition to a photo ID for people 16 and older.

A face cover must be worn during the event.

The Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue tree lighting will take place at 5 pm on Saturday, November 27 at Parc Lalonde, corner of Ste-Anne and St-Pierre streets.

Kirkland will hold their tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 3 at 7:15 pm in City Hall.

The Pierrefonds-Roxboro district will host its tree lighting event on Sunday, December 5, from 3:30 to 5 pm on the outdoor terrace of the Pierrefonds Library.
