Bike march through the Vallvidrera tunnel to claim their own road

Fifty cyclists have marched this morning through the Vallvidrera tunnel in Barcelona, as a form of protest to claim their own vial. Specifically, they claim that bicycles can have their own lane using an existing internal gallery which they say is in poor condition.

“Fewer cars, better health and bikes for a tube!”. This is the claim of the Bike Vallvidrera platform, which this morning marched through the tunnels that connect the Sarrià neighborhood of Barcelona with the Vallès Occidental. “The gallery of services parallel to the tunnel is in degraded conditions, if this access were made, active mobility would be facilitated, healthy to reduce the amount of polluting movements,” claimed a spokesman for the group. According to this entity, every day 40,000 polluting vehicles cross this tunnel.

This idea arose at the beginning of 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Last year they were 300 cyclists who crossed the tunnel to request this modification of the tunnel to facilitate sustainable mobility. In the project of the entity, presented in May 2020proposes to do something very similar to what already exists in a cycling tunnel in Morlans (San Sebastian). At the end of the walk, a group of cyclists has also traveled the Rovira tunnelin Barcelona, to claim the same investments in that space and guarantee sustainable mobility.
