América Móvil will invest 8,000 million dollars in the construction and maintenance of networks in 2022


America Movilthe largest telecommunications company in Latin America, announced that it will maintain a capital expenditure (capex) of 8,000 million dollars, most of which will be invested in the fifth generation mobile network (5G).

Carlos García, director of Finance of the Slim family company Aclaró, said in a conference with analysts one day after the presentation of its results report for the fourth quarter of 2021, that no more will be invested than what is already available. planned and expects to launch the network in 90% of the country.

América Móvil plans to carry out the implementation of 5G technology throughout the year, and although they do not yet have specific dates, they would like most of the process to be carried out during the first semester.

“Over 5 years we have modernized ourselves and in all the countries in which we operate we have 3G, 4G, 4.5G and we are ready to have 5G as well”, explained Carlos García.

Directors of the station said that they continue to be leaders in the countries they operate in, such as Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, since they have met the needs of these markets.

In the fourth quarter the company registered 4.8 million new mobile subscribers, in addition to 2.2 million postpaid clients, of which 1.1 million were from Brazil, 357,000 in Colombia and 202,000 in Austria.

For its part, the postpaid base increased 10.1% annually and in the prepaid segment, Mexico was the leader with 1.2 million net additions, followed by Colombia and Argentina with 349,000 294,000, respectively.

On the fixed line platform América Móvil registered 139,000 disconnections.

Carlos García said that last year América Móvil presented “problems in the supply chain, although that situation was for companies worldwide. For the next two quarters it seems that things will improve because we have had more supply and we hope that production will normalize”.

Specialists have pointed out that the results presented by the firm for the fourth quarter of 2021 were better than expected.

The British bank Barclays, described the financial report of América Móvil as favorable.

“AMX reported positive results for the fourth quarter of 2021, with results in line, despite slower than expected revenues, in addition, EBITDA was favored by the sale of telecommunications towers for 7,000 million dollars”.

Barclays added that ASMX’s recurring net income was affected by foreign exchange losses, but reported figures that included a gain of 113 billion pesos from the sale of its subsidiary, TracFone in the United States, which is a mobile phone operator.

Casa de Bolsa Monex, for its part, mentioned in a report that “going forward, it will be important to evaluate progress in the generation of strategies that provide value to investors, that manage to improve the financial structure, as well as a greater market share in the mobile segment.

Monex has higher growth expectations for the company this year, which is why it granted a Target Price of 22 pesos for its shares.

At the close of the Mexican stock market, this Wednesday the company’s shares closed at 19.50 pesos, which reflected an increase of 1.77 percent. Its market value reached 1,261 billion pesos.
