Wolf Alice has shared his great relief after they finally reached Glastonbury 2022: having feared they wouldn’t make it in time.

This week, the English rock band found themselves in a nightmarish situation ahead of their Friday performance at the festival, revealing online that they were stuck in Los Angeles following a last-minute flight cancellation.

After begging for a private plane to be arranged, they finally landed in the UK just in time, and when they took the stage it was clear that the emotional situation was still raw.

Addressing the crowd, guitarist Joff Oddie told them, “We almost didn’t make it, but we’re so glad we did.”

Meanwhile, singer Ellie Rowsell choked up while singing The Last Man on Earth, from her 2021 studio album Blue Weekend, emphasizing how ’emotional’ they felt.

We are very excited. We didn’t know if we would get here today,” she said.

Several fans expressed how happy they were that the band wasn’t forced to miss their Glastonbury set, with one tweet: “Wolf Alice at Glastonbury just transpired.”

“You would never know they literally went through hell just before just to get on stage, KUDOS,” wrote another, full of praise for the group.

Someone else emphasized how much the band had to deal with to make their performance a reality, saying, “Despite being made a low offer on their slot, jet lag after getting stuck in LA, and possibly some table issues of sound that weren’t what the band would have wanted, @wolfalicemusic broke their slot in Pyramid.

“I’m afraid I’ll never recover from Wolf Alice in Glasto,” someone else wrote.

This year marks the first time in three years that Glastonbury has been canceled twice due to the Covid pandemic.

Even though thousands of people descended on Worthy Farm for the festivities, it hasn’t been without a few speed bumps, plus Wolf Alice’s journey from hell to get there on time.

The chemical brothers were forced to walk off their set hours earlier, with Tom Rowlands requiring more time to recover after testing positive for Covid.

“We are very sorry to announce that we will not be playing Arcadia tonight at Glastonbury,” the pair began in a statement on Twitter.

“We were very excited to be back in the fields and celebrate the return of the festival, as we would be playing in Cork on Thursday night. We had hoped that more rest days would allow Tom to recover from Covid, so far this has not been the case.”
