COVID-19 restrictions have stopped live in-person performances.

The digital series is titled The music. The history. The food. It runs from January 14 to March 31.

For each concert, maestro Robert Franz sets the stage with stories about the composers and the times in which they lived. Robert Nelson, historian and local cook, will highlight food related to the times and music. Recipes are provided for each concert.

“In addition to experiencing the excellent music performed by the WSO, discover the backstory of the composers who wrote the music and the trials and triumphs that influenced them. Learn about popular foods in different places and in earlier times, ”says the brochure on the WSO website.

Foods being explored include a feta cheesecake, a seafood and chicken stew, and meatballs.

Not in the mood to cook?

The WSO has partnered with seven different restaurants and bakeries for the series. Ticket holders visiting all seven will be entered into a drawing to win two-season subscriptions to next year’s symphony.

Participating restaurants are Thanasi’s Olympus Greek Restaurant, The Cheese Bar, Nico Taverna, Lagos Grill, Thyme Kitchen, Windsor Cake Emporium, and Amherstburg’s Caffeine and Co.

Tickets are $ 100 for the series and can be purchased on the website at windsorsymphony.com.
