Victoria Rodriguez Ceja, who to date serves as Undersecretary of Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), has a degree in Economics from the ITESM, with a master’s degree in Economics from the Colegio de México.
The official, who has been close to President López Obrador since he was head of the Federal District government, has experience in the area of public finances, in budgetary, financial and debt issues.
Has had different public charges, as general director of Budgetary Policy, as well as director of Debt in the Ministry of Finance within the Government of Mexico City. She was also the Finance Director of the Collective Transportation System.
Rodríguez Ceja arrived with the 4T at Hacienda. Although at the beginning of the six-year term, Gerardo Esquivel was thought of as Undersecretary of Expenditures, this changed when he was proposed as deputy governor of Banxico. Now, if ratified by the Senate, Esquivel and Rodríguez Ceja will meet at the central bank.
During her time at the Treasury, the official stood out for being the first woman to deliver the Economic package to the Senate. In addition, she was in charge of directing the budgets of the López Obrador era, which have been characterized by austerity.
“We consider that the income expectations are realistic (…) there are solid foundations for the income proposals and they give us the possibility in the expense part for 2022.
