Sentinel High School in West Vancouver was closed Monday following a bomb threat.

Shortly after 9 am, school staff received a phone call from an unknown person, who claimed that several bombs had been planted on the school grounds.

Staff alerted police, who helped evacuate the school.

Police say the parents were notified and the students were safely removed from school.

The BC Ambulance and West Vancouver Fire and Rescue teams stayed to support the investigation.

Officers have cordoned off the area and are not allowing anyone to enter the school while waiting for the assistance of an explosives detector dog.
