Since the beginning of September, a 19-year-old from Montreal has made the sport known to the entire world while inspiring her country.
Leylah Fernández has been one of the most talked about Canadians in the last week.
She put together a tournament that saw her defeat former US Open champions Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber and, most recently, defeat No. 5 ranked Elina Svitolina.
The fan favorite will take on 18-year-old Emma Raducanu of Great Britain today with a chance to make history in the US Open final. The start time is scheduled for 4 pm ET.
That’s why the Star is collecting messages from fans to share during Fernandez’s historic match on Saturday afternoon.
What has been your favorite memory of Fernández throughout this tournament? What would you like to tell him before your next match?
