Wasaga Beach house fire sends one to the hospital

A Wasaga Beach man is lucky to be alive after a fire broke out in his home Monday morning.

The man was reportedly sleeping when he woke up to the smell of smoke around 11 am in the 30th Street North single-storey home.

According to fire officials, he was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

The home’s interior is believed to be severely damaged by smoke and fire and will likely need to be gutted.

Fire officials said there didn’t appear to be a smoke alarm in the home.

They said smoking materials and paraphernalia were found in the home and are believed to have caused the fire.

There is no word on whether any charges could be laid.
