Viva Aerobús underpins its operation with new routes at the Monterrey International Airport


Monterrey, NL.- The Ministry of Tourism of Nuevo León and the Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (WCO) celebrated the strengthening of national and international air connectivity in Monterrey, due to the fact that Long live Aerobus restarts its summer season route Monterey–Cozumel from July 1 with two flights a week.

Regarding the increase in its international operation, Viva will integrate its portfolio of regular flights Monterey-Chicago O’Hare -before it operated only in winter-, with three flights a week. As of July 15, it will offer one-way fares starting at $87, plus the TUA.

A few weeks ago, it inaugurated as a regular service, the route Monterey–Los Angeleswith two flights a week and tickets starting at $97, plus TUA.

“Increasing the offer of flights in Monterrey is essential to attract new investments and continue promoting the tourism sector in the city; For example, we are spearheading business tourism. And without a doubt, these new routes of Viva Aerobus will contribute to such purposes and enrich, even more, competitiveness through accessible and reliable air connectivity”, said the Secretary of State Tourism, Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal.

The airline establishes itself as a leader in the Monterey International Airport where it has one of its five operating bases and where it currently operates 35 routes: 27 domestic and 8 international to Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, Harlingen, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Antonio and recently Havana.

As a result of this commitment to connectivity in Monterrey, the market share of long live aerobus at the Monterrey International Airport it is 59%, “making it a strategic ally for the OMA airport group, for tourism and for the development of the region,” the airline’s statement said.

“Due to this significant increase in supply, we are working on an expansion of our facilities, with a new wing, designed for low-cost airlines such as Viva Aerobus. Our goal is to serve more than 16 million passengers a year in compared to the 10 million we serve today,” said Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of WCO.

This sustained growth of Live in Nuevo Leon is backed by traveler preference. In this sense, during April, traffic to/from Monterrey increased by 38% compared to April 2021, adding more than half a million passengers in a single month.
