Vaccination passport: the grace period is now over in Quebec

The grace period for the presentation of the vaccination passport in certain places deemed non-essential is now over.

Quebecers aged 13 and over are therefore required to present proof of vaccination to access businesses and events such as restaurants, fitness centers and festivals.

Quebec believes that the vaccine passport is necessary to keep the economy open and limit hospitalizations linked to COVID-19.

The vaccine passport had been requested since September 1, but the government had granted a 15-day grace period before fines could be imposed on offenders.

To prove their immunization status, vaccinated people must present a QR code in paper format, in PDF format on the mobile device or from the VaxiCode app, which can be downloaded on smartphones.

Persons aged 16 and over must also present a photo ID card. For people aged 75 and over, proof of identity without a photo is accepted.
