The mexican economy, the second largest of Latin America after Brazil, would grow 5.4% this year, according to the most recent forecast of the autonomous Bank of Mexico, which lowered its previous estimate of 6.2% after the contraction in the START in the third trimester.

Despite this, the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador maintains its forecast of a 6% rebound this year.

This growth is mainly explained by a rebound in activity after the historic drop of 8.5% experienced in 2020, dragged down by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
