Uncle Tom’s Cabin Historic Site has interactive exhibits exploring the life and leadership of Josiah Henson — an abolitionist, preacher and conductor of the Underground Railroad.

The site also explores the contributions of people of African descent to Canadian culture and society.

For the first time in two years, Emancipation Day will be celebrated in-person during the August Civic Holiday weekend with a number of events at the site. The day will feature speakers, performers, exhibits and cuisine reflecting early Black life in Ontario.
