The suspect, Martin Poulin, was arrested at his residence in Baie-Saint-Paul on Sunday by officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The series of flights and introduction had started last November. Investigators from the general crimes module of the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) then opened an investigation which revealed a similar modus operandi between the various theft and entry files.

These offenses were also committed in the MRCs of Côte-de-Beaupré, Charlevoix and Charlevoix-Est. This is why the SQ joined the SPVQ investigation.

The majority of the thefts were for jewelry and cash.

This joint investigation made it possible to link Martin Poulin, 50, to more than 40 files of break-ins and thefts that occurred on the territory of Quebec and those of the Sûreté du Québec.

A search was carried out at the home of Martin Poulin, which led to the seizure of several stolen objects, which made it possible to solve several files.

Poulin appeared last Sunday on charges of theft and receiving stolen goods and remained in custody.
