The prosecutor’s office obtained more than 1 million fentanyl pills from the Sinaloa cartel and the CJNG in 2021.

The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) reported that he conducted several searches in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa and Sonora, where he seized, among other things, 11 tons of marijuana, one million fentanyl pills and 11 tons of methamphetamine.

These illegal products belonged to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), Sinaloa cartel (Chapitos), Banda Aztecas, Juárez cartel and / or La Línea, Beltrán Leyva and the Pacific cartel, among others, for which their material and economic structure was affected, according to the FGR.

The FGR He said elements from the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM), Expert Services and the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) carried out about 580 searches and 620 operations in 2021, seizing about 300kg of cocaine, 250 fentanyl, 149 heroin and three more crystals. Similarly, more than 700 people were arrested and more than 400 vehicles and 370 properties were seized.

The prosecutor’s office specified that in 2021, the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), in its North West region, seized about 11 tons of marijuana, one million fentanyl pills and 11 tons of methamphetamine; in investigations relating to the probable commission of various crimes committed by criminal groups operating in said region.

More than $ 500,000 and 3.5 million pesos were also insured; more than 100 long weapons, 150 short weapons and about 46,000 cartridges and 700 magazines.

The seizures and operations were carried out in the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa and Sonora, which make up the Northwest region of the FGR. The searches were granted by the corresponding judges, given the probable commission of several crimes.
