The Marquis projects 600 million pesos for public works throughout the municipality

Queretaro, Qro. During fiscal year 2022, the municipal administration of El Marqués, a metropolitan municipality of the city of Querétaro, plans to spend around 600 million pesos on public works.

Meanwhile, it is estimated that at the end of the administration (October 2024) more than 1,500 million pesos have been spent on public works, an amount similar to the last three years (2018-2021), said the municipal president of El Marqués, Enrique Vega. rails.

According to the municipality, it will be privileged that the work be carried out by local builders, so that the economic flow permeates at the local level.

However, he stressed that priority will be given to carrying out the work by construction companies that have been impacted by the economic crisis, including those that were technically unemployed due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We have to see, because we have to see that there are more needy companies that were unemployed, we will help them. Finally, what is the goal and the commitment of the government (…) is that we give jobs to the region, that everything stays in the state of Querétaro, that they be companies from Querétaro, that the resource stays here,” he stressed.

Before members of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) he stated that of the 1,500 million pesos that were exercised in the past three years (administration that he also presided over), 35% were exercised by companies affiliated with the CMIC, but 100 % of the projects were carried out by local companies.

Meanwhile, he promised to increase the participation of CMIC member companies in the development of works within the municipality.

“Of 1,500 million pesos of work, 35% was carried out by chamber companies, it is a low percentage, we have to increase it; 100% of the work has been carried out by Queretaro companies and we will continue like this”, he declared.

During the current administration, he highlighted, 300 public works commitments were acquired, for which they will seek to add local construction companies, as well as suppliers in the area.

“There are 300 public works commitments during the government. We will add supplies to the area”, he highlighted.
