Catalonia has once again reported a high figure of contagions at the gates of the bridge: in the last hours they have added 3,300 positives, and Catalan hospitals already have more than 700 patients admitted for covid, in a sixth wave that has almost reached the level of risk of the fourth, although admissions to ICUs increase much more slowly thanks to vaccination. To prevent this advance of the virus, from this Friday the sector of the restoration also requires the covid passport.
According to the incidence data updated this Friday by Salut, today there are 713 people hospitalized with covid, which are 19 more than two days ago, of which 165, thirteen than yesterday, are seriously ill in the ICU. The deaths from covid since the beginning of the epidemic are already 24,149, of which nine have been communicated in the last 24 hours.
More visits in the CAPs
The primary care centers (CAP) treated 13,939 covid patients yesterday, Thursday, 3,000 more than on Wednesday of last week, data that had not been recorded since early August in Catalonia.
The risk of regrowth (EPG), an index that measures the growth potential of the epidemic, continues to rise considerably and has reached 360 (yesterday it was at 341 points), each day closer to the 384 which was the maximum in the fourth wave on April 12.
The speed of spread of the virus (Rt) in Catalonia is 1.33 today, less than yesterday, which means that every 100 infected infect an average of 133 people and the community transmission of the virus continues. It is the only indicator that is going down.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, a total of 1,049,595 people have been diagnosed with covid-19 by all kinds of tests in Catalonia, 3,369 of them counted in the last 24 hours, while in the last week 12,547 have been diagnosed by PCR or antigen test (TA).

Once again, the accumulated incidence rises: at one week, and for every 100,000 inhabitants (IA7), it is 160.8 cases, eight more than yesterday, while the accumulated incidence at 14 days (IA14) stands at 276 cases.
The positivity -the percentage of CRP and TA with a positive result- is 6.4%, a sustained growth for weeks, which is far from the maximum percentage established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to consider an epidemic under control, which is 5%.
