The CIDE community calls for a march from Parque Hundido to Conacyt on Saturday, December 4

On the morning of December 2, the Permanent Academic Assembly of the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) waited for the assistance of the general director of the National Council of Science and Technology (Concayt), María Elena Álvarez-Buylla Roces. This group had sent the invitation for a “frank, open and horizontal” dialogue at the Center’s facilities, after the director herself communicated that they were willing to listen to the community’s proposals.

“This morning, we await the presence of Dr. Álvarez-Buylla to be able to have that dialogue. However, its absence shows that the Conacyt authorities have once again ignored the voice of the community expressed in petitions, communications and letters since the mobilization on November 19 at the Conacyt facilities “, said the Assembly in press conference after time passed and the representative did not appear.

Then they made a call to the Ministry of the Interior, of the federal government, to “establish a space for dialogue with the Conacyt authorities”, with the aim of achieving political mediation against the student strike and taking over of facilities, which began this Monday, November 29 after the appointment of José Antonio Romero Tellaeche, as general director of CIDE.

The Assembly is concerned about the “null disposition to dialogue”, so it hopes that through this instance a space for dialogue can be established to find a solution route to reestablish legality in the decision-making processes in the CIDE , thus resuming academic life in a way free from intimidation and threats.

Finally, a march of students, workers and teachers of this house of studies was announced, and other educational institutions were invited to join the demand for transparency in the allocation of resources; as well as stopping the harassment and systematic harassment against the scientific community, one of the most worrying, are the accusations against 31 members of the scientific community belonging to the Scientific and Technological Consultative Forum AC.

They also spoke of the attacks on the labor rights of the researchers Cátedra Conacyt, today called the Program of Researchers for Mexico; in addition to fulfilling the presidential commitment to support young people who seek to continue their studies with the timely payment of scholarships, both in Mexico and abroad.

“We convened a march to academic institutions, student communities and society in general, this Saturday, December 4, at 10 am, from Parque Hundido to Conacyt, to demand that the authority responsible for conducting scientific policy adhere to the legality and respect the rule of law in its conduct as a sectoral authority ”.
