Teenage girl crossing the road hit and killed by a vehicle

Police are investigating after a teenage girl was killed when a vehicle struck her in Scarborough on Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to Danforth Ave., west of Birchmount Rd. – at 11:45 am for reports of a 17-year-old girl who had been struck while crossing the street.

She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where she later died.

Police say the driver of the car remained at the scene.

Roads in the area, including the intersection of Birchmount and Danforth, remained closed while police investigated.
