There are dozens of reasons why people cheat, but the research provides a bit more information on how increased testosterone levels in men might play a role.

The study, published in The Journal of Sex Research , sheds more light on how the hormone has a different effect on the sexual behavior of men and women.

The researchers measured testosterone in saliva samples from nearly 4,000 adults ages 18 to 74, specifically 1,599 men and 2,123 women, and looked at their responses to a questionnaire about sexual behavior.

They found that men with higher levels were more likely to have had more than one lover at the same time in the past five years.

In women, testosterone was significantly higher in those who had experienced a same-sex relationship. Frequent masturbation was also reported.

“Questions have been raised about the nature of sexual desire in women and how little we understand what it is that is desired,” said lead author Wendy Macdowall of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

“The strong link of testosterone with masturbation among women, in the absence of an observed link with aspects of heterosexual sex, can be seen as consistent with the notion of a stronger moderating effect of social factors on hormonal influences in women’s behavior “.

To put it bluntly, the link between higher testosterone levels and solo sex versus sex with a partner was stronger for women than for men.

The researchers said it could be related to the “different meanings and motivations that women attribute to sex alone and with a partner.”

Women create small amounts of testosterone in the ovaries and adrenal glands, which affects fertility and bones and muscles.

In men, the male sex hormone is produced mainly in the testes, but also in the adrenal glands.

Men with low testosterone levels can suffer from erection problems, low sex drive, infertility, weakened muscles and bones, increased body fat, and hair loss.

However, too much testosterone is often associated with aggression, as well as increased prostate problems. And now, infidelity.
