Carson Crimeni’s father attends court for the first appearance of the man accused of his son’s overdose death – BC | The Canadian News

The father of a British Columbia boy who suffered a fatal overdose after receiving drugs while other young people watched, filmed and laughed, said Wednesday that he will attend all court appointments for the defendant in the death of his son.

Carson Crimeni, 14, died on August 7, 2019 near a skate park in Langley, BC.

A 20-year-old man, who cannot be identified because he was a young man at the time of the incident, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

He made his first court appearance on Wednesday. The next court date is set for November 24.

A publication ban prevents any reporting of what was discussed in the courtroom.

“No matter the day, I will be here,” Aron Crimeni told Global News on Wednesday.

“We are 100% prepared and for as long as necessary. It is about doing justice and protecting children in the future ”.

The video of Carson’s last hours, later posted on social media, shows the boy in a constantly deteriorating condition, sweating heavily and becoming increasingly agitated.

Only hours later he was found barely breathing in a ditch not far from the Walnut Grove skate park.

The 20-year-old accused in Carson’s death turned himself in to police in mid-September after an arrest warrant was issued.

Crimeni said that while this case will not bring her son back, in the end, “they hope to get justice for Carson and keep the children safe in the future.”
