Stettler RCMP received a complaint reporting a man with a gunshot wound at the Stettler hospital April 4. Police said the man had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, RCMP conducted a judicially authorized search of a home in the town of Stettler. During the execution of the search warrant, the RCMP said it arrested one suspect without incident.

Morley Roland Savage, 25 from Stettler, has been charged with aggravated assault, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm and ammunition while prohibited, RCMP said.

Savage has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Stettler next Thursday, April 14.

RCMP said the shooting is an isolated incident and there was no concern or risk to the general public. Schools in the area enacted a hold and secure protocol until RCMP completed their planned actions at home.
