The cause of a fire in an attached garage on Saturday morning was a space heater that was too close to combustible material, according to the Saskatoon Fire Department.
The fire department received a call at 1:16 am about the fire in the 700 block of Sutter Avenue.
A total of three fire trucks, a ladder truck, a rescue unit and the battalion chief were dispatched to the scene.
The fire had broken through a garage window, so fire crews immediately began spraying water on the fire through the broken window.
The fire was brought under control at 1:43 a.m.
The fire investigator conducted an examination of the scene and deemed the fire to be accidental, caused by a space heater that was too close to combustible material. It had been plugged in and running since 6 p.m. the night before, they said.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
There are no injuries to civilians or firefighters as a result of the fire.
