Saskatchewan Prime Minister and Health Minister to Provide COVID-19 Update Thursday | The Canadian News

Saskatchewan Prime Minister Scott Moe and Health Minister Paul Merriman are expected to provide a COVID-19 update Thursday morning when Omicron begins to surge in the province.

Along with other officials, Moe and Merriman will announce changes related to testing and isolation, and provide an update on key indicators related to the number of cases, including hospitalizations.

According to the daily COVID-19 update on Wednesday, there are 1,645 active cases in the province. 66 cases of Omicron and 890 probable cases detected by screening have been confirmed.

In a video posted to his Twitter page on December 23, Moe said that the cumulative restrictions and other measures for this week have not been “ruled out”.

“We do not want to shut down activities again, restrict businesses in our communities and take away their personal freedoms,” he added.

He asked residents to receive their booster shots and to use rapid test kits to help control the spread of the virus.
