Salut will offer free antigen test when there is a positive in class

One day before the Catalan students return to the classroom, the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya has announced this Sunday some news in the protocol regarding the management of covid cases in educational centers. One of them is that it will offer free antigen test to the students of the classes where there is some positive.

As announced on Friday the Public Health CommissionIn kindergarten and primary school, only classes where there are five or more cases of covid, or 20% of the students in the group who have tested positive in a period of seven days, will quarantine.

In this case, immunized students (those who have the complete vaccination schedule or who have been positive in the last three months) will be exempt and only those not immunized will quarantine.

In secondary education, the protocols are maintained as they are established, so that immunized students should not quarantine. On the other hand, the non-immunized ones will have to do it for seven days.

Between days 0 and 1

When there is a positive case in the stable cohabitation group, the possibility of a free antigen test between days 0 and 1 will be offered and recommended in one of the member pharmacies to the program. In the case of early childhood education, it will be offered at a centralized point or at a primary care center.

This new measure adopted by the Generalitat is not among the recommendations of the document of the Comissió de Salut, but the Catalan health authorities consider it “important” that it be maintained to favor the pandemic control.

The Government is now working on adapting the protocols to incorporate these changes, and the health and educational systems collaborate to report cases and outbreaks, in addition to the necessary actions. A ‘webinar’ will also be organized for school referents next Tuesday to inform them of all the changes.
