Canada closed its airspace last Sunday to aircraft owned, chartered or operated by Russian interests.

The arrival of the plane led to the initiation of an investigation by the ministry.

This “determined that the aircraft, although not owned by Russian interests or registered in Russia, had indeed violated the airspace restrictions” of Canada.

The company that owns the aircraft, Dunard Engineering Limited, based in Geneva, Switzerland, was fined $15,000.

The plane received permission to leave the country on Friday, but without passengers.

According to information obtained by The newspaperthe Russian who chartered the plane was about to begin an expedition through the Arctic in an all-terrain vehicle, before continuing in Europe, Africa and Antarctica to end up in South America.
