Russia surpassed Brazil to rank as the second country with the most deaths from Covid-19 pandemic in the world, only behind U.Sdata from the Russian state statistics service and Reuters calculations showed on Thursday.
The statistics service, Rosstat, said 87,527 people had died from causes related to the coronavirus in November, making it the deadliest month in Russia since the beginning of the pandemic.
The total death toll from Russia’s pandemic reached 658,634, according to Reuters calculations based on Rosstat figures through the end of November and data from the coronavirus task force for December, surpassing Brazil, which has recorded 618,800 deaths.
