Route 3 Picos: Western style

The change in the Epidemiological Traffic Light allows the inhabitants of the different states of the Mexican Republic to carry out more activities of different types but as long as they follow sanitary measures such as the use of a mask, monitoring of body temperature or healthy distance.

Following the protocol, the Bosco’s Camp team organized a new route in which fans of off-road driving could participate and continue their presence on the National Off Road Circuit. In this way, he moved to El Bajío to direct the Route 3 Picos, a test that is characterized by its arid landscapes that are complemented by the abandoned towns along the route. Due to the response and registered participants, it was necessary to divide it into 2 weekends.

Thus, Mineral de Pozos, in the state of Guanajuato, received a total of 30 vehicles with their respective crews, some made up of entire families and others made up of couples or friends. As in previous tests, it was necessary to have vehicles equipped with the basic equipment such as a 4×4 transmission with a reduction gear, at least one differential lock, all-terrain tires, safety and assistance equipment such as a jack and a spare tire.

They start

At 7 in the morning, the participants had breakfast as the first activity of the day, accompanied by the first indications from Juan Bosco and his team. While receiving the details of the route such as critical points, estimated time, among others, the crew members exchanged comments and took the opportunity to take note of each detail.

Before starting, the last technical inspection, review of safety equipment, lights, mechanics and assistance equipment was carried out. At 9 in the morning the caravan led once again by Juan Bosco, left the magical town Mineral de Pozos, where the municipal authorities offered a guided visit to the ruins of this mining town the night before, to introduce the participants to the details of the culture of the Chichimecas and the settlement of the Jesuits in the region. The caravan left the central square with the starting flag of Isabel Oviedo, representative of the Ministry of Tourism. One by one, the vehicles left in the direction of San Luis de la Paz, a town located approximately 20 kilometers away, and then took the deviation to Dr. Mora.

At this point, the tire pressure loss was carried out in order to start the road on the dirt trail and start the most fun part of the day. The weather favored the caravan because although the presence of rain and cloudy skies in the region were a challenge, the temperature was not a factor of wear and tear for the team.

The vehicles of the Jeep brand in their different versions TJ, JK, JL, JT and the special 80th Anniversary edition (which has details such as the color and unique emblems), began their advance through hills and difficult access roads where few drivers can access if not they have the necessary knowledge of how to do it.

The most extreme races were passing through deep ditches and climbing slopes that exceeded 45 degrees of incline. The maximum suspension flexes did not fail to impress drivers and their passengers by having the option to disconnect the stabilizer bar and thus have a perfect articulation of the suspension of their vehicles without losing stability.

On this route, different mechanical characteristics of the vehicles are combined to overcome obstacles such as torque, roll cage (cage), protective plates for tank, differential and crankcase, winch (steel winch), BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires, differential lock rear and front, Beadlocks (low tire pressure rings and modified suspension.

Playtime

On Sunday pilots, sailors and their companions rested from the emotions of the previous day and enjoyed visits to different points such as the Ghost Town, the lavender fields, the El Triángulo mine.

In the hands of the Bosco’s Camp 4×4 organization and as the leading vehicle for the 2021 series is a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JL Moparizado that has the ideal accessories to face nature in any type of terrain, no matter how rough it may be.

Each route that passes increases the number of people interested in living a 4×4 driving experience to the extreme but with all the security available. The calendar of the National Off Road Circuit remains active.
