Residents of the Etobicoke condo lit fireworks on the balcony of the apartment over the weekend

Video Posted by a resident of a condo in Etobicoke shows fireworks that go off from a balcony late Saturday night.

The video was posted on a public Facebook group for Humber Bay Shores residents. Displays fireworks exploding from the balcony of the Nautilus Building in Waterview in Lakeshore Boulevard and Brookers Lane.

According to Nicola Demercado-Campbell, a resident of the building who posted the video on Facebook, said there were about two or three sets of fireworks that were fired on the balcony within five minutes of each other.

“We hear a lot of fireworks in our neighborhood and I often block them,” Demercado-Campbell said.

He added that he has heard many residents in the neighborhood complain to their building management in the past about the use of fireworks in and around the building, but the problem continues.

Etobicoke-Lakeshore Councilman Mark Grimes said people should “prepare before someone gets hurt.”

“I am appalled at the negligent use of fireworks and the utter disregard for the safety of people in the building and on the ground,” he said in an email to the Star.

Grimes says he has worked with the Humber Bay Shores Condo Association to ask local property managers to make sure this type of behavior in their buildings is not tolerated.

Nautilus of Waterview management said the incident was isolated and that staff are currently investigating.

Property Manager Kevin Cousins ​​was unable to provide comment as it was a “private matter.”
