COVID-19: 3 More Saskatchewan Resident Deaths As Province Records 86 New Cases | The Canadian News

Saskatchewan announced a new COVID-19 death in the province along with 86 new cases and 188 more recoveries on Tuesday.

It is the first time the province has registered fewer than 100 new cases in a day since August 16, when there were 87.

Although the provincial government increased the total death count by one to 874, two residents who were being treated at hospitals outside the province also died.

The total of provincial cases notified is 78,910, while the total of recoveries amounts to 76,612.

A total of 193 people are hospitalized in the province, including 142 hospitalizations and 51 in the ICU. Of the 193 patients, 128 were not fully vaccinated.

The hospitalization numbers are in addition to the 15 residents currently in the ICU outside the province. The government said Tuesday that there has been a repatriation along with the two deaths outside the province since Monday’s report.

Saskatchewan’s active case count is 1,424, its lowest level since Aug. 20, when there were 1,381 active cases.

The seven-day average of COVID-19 cases is 146, or just over 12 new cases per 100,000 residents.

Health officials added that just under 33 percent of new cases are in the age category of 11 years or younger (who are not yet eligible for vaccination), while about 41 percent of new cases are they occurred among fully vaccinated people.

Three residents in the age group 12 to 19 were brought to the ICU and four were 11 years or younger.
