REM: Montreal wants a seat at the table


The Mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, asks that the City be involved in the decision-making process for the REM project.

“This project is happening on the territory of the City. It’s on our streets. If the CDPQ wants to make REM 2.0 using the same processes as for 1.0, the City says no: we have to be around the table, ”explained Ms. Plante, during a press scrum.

For the moment, however, it does not pose any condition that would ensure that Montreal would veto it, reiterating that the City wants to see the REM come to fruition.

“We want to be more involved, because this project must land well,” added Ms. Plante.
