Queen Elizabeth II will not attend a religious ceremony on Monday in the abbey westminsterin what was to be his first public act after months of absence due to health problems, Buckingham Palace announced on Friday.
“The Queen has asked the Prince of Wales to represent Her Majesty in the Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey on Monday,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement, giving no further details about her absence.
The sovereign of 96 years had planned to attend this event on the occasion of the British Commonwealth Day (Commonwealth), which is expected to be attended by 1,500 people.
That ceremony was to be Isabel II’s first public act in months after suffering various health problems, including a covid-19 infection.
