Puebla rules out that tourist influx has been affected by violence

Puebla, Pue. The Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism in the municipality of Puebla, Alejandro Cañedo Priesca, ruled out that the tourist influx at Easter has been affected by violent events that occurred in the current month of April.

Moreover, he said, only in the Good Friday procession that takes place in the first square of the Historic Center, there was a record of just over 100,000 attendees, which is an indication that the city maintains its attractiveness as a destination. .

He commented that visitors do not take these acts of violence into account, since the very promotion of the municipality contributed to attract vacationers who help the service provider sector.

At a press conference to present the Night of Museums event, he indicated that the work of his office is to seek investment and attract visitors, so he will not get involved in issues of insecurity.

“We did not have a mention about the absence of tourism due to criminal acts in the city. The perception of the capital was largely based on the tourism product that we generate, a large influx of people seeking to travel, learn and enjoy, “he said.

Cañedo Priesca said that after two years of the pandemic, tourism responded well during this long vacation period, and the city council trusts that it will continue to rise.

He commented that they are working on improving the different tourist products, which must be accompanied by a permanent advertising strategy outside the state, starting by going to neighboring entities.

He recalled that the municipal government works to carry out private investment projects for more than 2,000 million pesos in the north of the capital, especially industrial parks.

With the above, the generation of around 2,800 direct jobs is expected and will be developed between 18 months and two years.
