The problematic graffiti was discovered on the playground equipment at Jack Purdie Park, in the 600 block of Richmond Street, on November 7.

Patrol officers responded to a report from the public.

According to the police, the incident is classified as mischief, but the nature of the graffiti has forced the police to investigate it as “motivated by hate”.

Police have not disclosed the actual insult that was on the graffiti.

Along with the writing, the graffiti had an image depicted as a frowning face with “X-shaped” eyes.

Investigators can’t be sure exactly when the vandalism occurred, but the graffiti is believed to have been done on November 6 or 7.

“Incidents like this are taken very seriously and can result in criminal charges,” Windsor Police stated.
