The ski hill offers higher salaries for some positions. Operators are even trying to lure people out of retirement.

“We will adjust our schedule in this regard so that employees work only in the morning or evening,” Marc-André Meunier, Ski Bromont’s chief marketing officer, told Global News.

On the south coast, more than a hundred workers are needed to fill positions such as snowmaking operators and ski instructors.

Some ski classes may be limited due to understaffing.

“There is a risk that we have some limitations, but we are still early because the main activities of the ski schools start in January. So we still have a month and a half ahead of us, ”Michel Couture, CEO of Ski Saint-Bruno, told Global News.

Traders don’t expect the shortage to delay their planned openings.
