On Friday at about 5:45 pm, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP, fire and emergency medical services responded to a collision between a Ford F150 pickup truck and Suzuki SUV on Range Road 230 and Township Road 554 in Sturgeon County.

The 36-year-old man driving the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. A 12-year-old girl who was a passenger was taken by STARS Air Ambulance to the Stollery Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

The man driving the Ford, and a woman passenger, both in their 60s, were transported to an Edmonton hospital by ground ambulance.

RCMP believe alcohol is not a factor in the collision.

Emergency crews are expected to remain on scene for several hours, with the intersection closed in all directions.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
