The agency, the government entity in charge of infectious disease control, has indicated on its website that during the last 24 hours there have been 50,196 infections and 235 dead, bringing the totals to 4,894,250 and 97,198, respectively.
The number of positives represents a drastic rebound compared to the 39,676 notified on Wednesday, which represented the first time that the country touched the threshold of 40,000 infections. In addition, it represents more than double the data recorded last week.
Likewise, the agency has indicated that the weekly cumulative incidence amounts to 249.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which represents a fourth consecutive day in record data. The figure surpassed the barrier of 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants for the first time on Monday.
