Murder suspects reportedly filmed


Investigators reportedly succeeded in tracking the course of the two men accused of having tried to kill a lawyer in Montérégie, in March 2020, using multiple surveillance cameras.

The trial of Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Ndiaye, 42, and Daouda Dieng, 36, continued Monday at the Longueuil courthouse. They are notably accused of attempted murder and intimidation of lawyer Nicholas Daudelin on March 26, 2020.

That evening, these individuals would have rang at the door of the civilian, in Mont-Saint-Hilaire.

One of them opened fire on the then 32-year-old man, hitting him in the leg, before fleeing in a vehicle.

On Monday, investigator David Godbout, major crimes at the Sûreté du Québec, presented in chronological order several video clips from surveillance cameras collected in the area.

It showed a black SUV type vehicle prowling the neighborhood before the attack; “suspicious behavior”, according to the investigator.

It’s the same SUV that parks in front of M’s house.and Daudelin and fleeing the scene, with two individuals on board, according to what can be seen on the videos.

Investigator Godbout says he made the link between this suspicious vehicle and the two accused. He featured footage of an indoor parking lot, where Dieng resided, in a condo building in Brossard.

“You can see the same white rectangle at the top of the windshield,” he said he distinguished on the vehicle entering the underground garage, about 30 minutes after the crime.

A few minutes later, another camera captures the defendants in front of an elevator. They go upstairs and then come back down, but this time, dressed differently. It is possible to see them making many round trips that night.

According to the lawsuit, Ndiaye and Dieng agreed to perform Jean-François Malo’s contract.

He is a businessman from Joliette who had a multi-million dollar dispute with the Mouvement Desjardins, which Nicholas Daudelin represented.

The latter would also have told his wife a few moments after being shot that he knew that this attack came from the real estate developer.

Malo, also accused in this case, will be tried later.

The trial continues throughout the week.
