Police are at the scene after a number of collisions, including an accident with 10 vehicles, were reported on Highway 400 in Innisfil.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) sers. Kerry Schmidt said the original collision occurred in the southbound lanes, approaching Innisfil Beach Road.

Ten vehicles collided.

According to Schmidt, one of the vehicles was a pickup truck that was turning on its side. Two people from the van were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Schmidt said officers received reports of “seven or eight” other collisions behind the first one.

He said roads were damp and slightly icy in some areas, but added that there were no other weather-related factors contributing to the collisions.

According to Schmidt, OPP officials at the scene are working to determine the damage and help clear up the collisions.

The force said road salt vehicles would come through the area before the road was reopened.

The northbound lanes, Schmidt said, are not affected.
