At Google I / O 2021, the tech giant announced ‘Lock Folder’, a password-protected feature that prevents people from viewing your “special photos” through Google Photos. Now, this feature will reach more Android phones.
Lock Folder is a password-protected feature that prevents images from appearing when you scroll through the main source of Google Photos.
The Google Camera app now also features a new button in the upper right corner that allows users to select between the default photo gallery or the Locked Folder. This means that you can take a photo and have it go directly to the Lock folder.
Samsung already offers a ‘Secure Folder’ with its devices that allows users to hide files, pictures, and more. However, users must use the Gallery application, Contact application, My Files application, Samsung Notes application, and other Samsung applications to access Secure Folder. That being said, it appears that Samsung is also getting Google’s locked folders.
With folder locked in @googlephotos, you can add photos to a password protected space and they will not appear while scrolling through Photos or other applications on your phone. Locked Folder will launch first on Google Pixel and more Android devices throughout the year. #GoogleIO pic.twitter.com/yGNoQ8vLdq
