The Ministry of Health reported this Tuesday 6,343 new infections of Covid-19so the accumulated number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began in Mexico amounted to 5 million 167,110 cases.
Meanwhile, the number of deaths from this disease in the country increased to 309,884, after in the last 24 hours they were notified 132 new deaths.
Regarding hospital capacity, the federal agency highlighted that the occupancy of general beds stands at 38%, three percentage points less than what was reported yesterday; while the occupancy of beds with a ventilator for the care of seriously ill patients stands at 25 percent.
In the daily technical report on the progress of the epidemic, the health authorities estimate 134,394 active cases, that is, people who have presented symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 14 days.
The Ministry of Health highlighted that 4 million 374,580 people have recovered in the country after suffering from the disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
These figures would reaffirm the observations of the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, who stressed on Tuesday that the fourth wave of Covid-19 infections in the country continues its downward trend.
“Most likely, the trajectory will remain that way until its complete reduction or disappearance,” explained the specialist in the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The undersecretary warned that despite this reduction in the curve of active cases, “it must be taken into account that epidemics have a changing nature” and if at any time this situation were different, they would inform the population.
Regarding mortality due to Covid-19, López-Gatell said that compared to what was recorded in the second wave in the winter of 2021, in this fourth wave there is a 72% reduction in deaths from the coronavirus. .
Vaccination against Covid-19 in Mexico
At the cut of Monday, February 7, the federal government reported that 130,910 vaccines against the coronavirus were applied, to register a total of 169,815,314 doses supplied since the vaccination strategy began to contain the advance of the pandemic, on December 24 of 2020.
Of the 83 million 917,663 people vaccinated against Covid-19 in Mexico, 77 million 632,311 have a complete scheme, according to the Ministry of Health.
