Luis Miranda gives his support to Denis Coderre

The mayor of Anjou, Luis Miranda, has decided to give his support to Denis Coderre. By virtue of this alliance, he agreed not to present candidates in this district during the elections of November 7.

At a press briefing on Tuesday morning, Mr. Miranda maintained that the leader of Ensemble Montreal joined the expectations of Angevins, particularly with regard to the construction of a cultural center and the development of the Golf d’Anjou.

Luis Miranda admits that he had some disagreements with Denis Coderre in the past concerning in particular the centralization of services to the City. “I walked. He has walked, ”he said. “Has he changed 100%? I wouldn’t believe, but he’s come a long way, and so have I. I’m sure we’ll have some differences, but the important thing is to be able to talk to each other. “

The mayor of Anjou affirms that there was no question of a position within the executive committee during his discussions with Denis Coderre and that his support for Ensemble Montreal does not mean that he will vote systematically with this party if he takes power on November 7. “I vote according to my conscience,” he said.

Let us recall that Luis Miranda came up against the Plante administration in the case of the Metropolitan Golf of Anjou. The borough wishes to set up an industrial building there while the Plante administration would like to protect the land as green space. According to Miranda, decontaminating the golf course would require significant investments. “We must not forget that it was an old refinery. […] We apply chemical fertilizers daily. There is a way to put something there, while highlighting the Boisé d’Anjou, ”he explained. “We asked the current administration to enhance the Boisé and make it accessible to people and they did nothing. “

Mayor of Anjou since 1997, Mr. Miranda joined Gérald Tremblay’s team in 2001 during municipal mergers. He then left Union Montreal in 2003 before returning there five years later. Once again independent, the elected official finally created his own party, Équipe Anjou, in 2013.
