No, Arnold Agulto’s eyes weren’t deceiving him when he checked his Encore numbers on his Pick 4 ticket.

“When I checked my ticket, I thought I had won $ 1,000 and I thought, ‘Do I really have to go downtown to claim $ 1,000?’

“Then I saw the commas and realized that I had won $ 1 million,” he said as he collected his winnings at the OLG Prize Center in Toronto.

“I was laughing at myself for being upset about going downtown for $ 1,000!”

The married father of three says he usually plays the lottery when the jackpots are big.

Agulto plans to buy a new home and car with his million, not a thousand dollars.

The winning ticket was purchased at the DM Kitchen Food Fair on Steeles Ave. in Thornhill.
